Are We Smart?

By Ara Baliozian

When it comes to selling Oriental rugs, we are probably smarter than anyone else. When it comes to pilaf and shish kebab, we are very probably as good as the Turks. In the arts or in any other enterprise, especially finance, where collective effort is not required, we can be as good as any civilized and progressive nation in the West.

But in politics we are a perennial fiasco and no better than Kurds and Gypsies. o those who say: "Unlike Kurds and Gypsies, we have a homeland!" I say, "Yes, but fit only for the minority, a majority of which is now hitting road."
