YEREVAN - On October 6, the new Board of Trustees of the Bible Society of Armenia convened its first session.

Bishop Yeznik Petrossian, Reverend Renee Levonian, Rev. Torkom Tonikian, Father Shahe Hayrapetian, Rev. Yuri Avanessian, Arshavir Kapoudjian and Deacon Hratch Sarkissian, ex officio General Secretary of the Bible Society of Armenia, participated in the session. Abp. Nerses Ter-Nersissian, Primate of the Armenian Catholic Community of Armenia, Georgia and Eastern Europe, did not participate in the session because he was out of the country.

The participants of the session unanimously elected Bishop Yeznik Petrossian Chairman of the Board of Directors. Abp. Nerses Ter-Nersissian and Rev. Yuri Avanessian were elected Vice-Chairmen of the Board, Arshavir Kapoudjian, Secretary, and Rev. Torkom Tonikian, Treasurer.

Rev. Manvel Jinbashian, Inter-Regional Translation Consultant, Strasbourg, and Abp. Hovnan Derderian, Executive Secretary of the 1700th Anniversary Office of the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin, attended the session as guests. Cooperation between the 1700th Anniversary Office and the Society was discussed with Archbishop Hovnan Derderian.

Issues related to the spread, translation and publication of the Bible in Armenia were the main topics of the agenda.
