Greater Worcester Armenian Chorale Presents Premier Concert; Christmas Concert to Follow

The Greater Worcester Armenian Chorale conducted by Maestro Konstantin Petrossian WORCESTER, MA - Under the direction of composer and conductor Maestro Konstantin Petrossian, The Greater Worcester Armenian Chorale performed their Premier Concert on October 22, 2000. An audience of over 300 enjoyed the concert held at the Armenian Church of Our Savior Cultural Center. Anaida Grigorian-Adourian, an accomplished pianist in her own right, accompanied the Chorale.

The Chorale presented many songs, a wonderful mix of patriotic, spiritual, and folk music carefully chosen to commemorate the priceless heritage of the Armenian people. The Chorale is made up of 40 singers from the greater Worcester area seriously dedicated to their passion for music and sharing their craft for the enjoyment of others.

The Program also featured Gohar Manjelikian, Mezzo-Soprano (from RI), Garo Nichanian, Bass-Baritone (Canada), and Pianist Gregory Chaverdian (Canada). The program ended with a powerful rendition of "Yerevan," providing a very moving ending to a truly wonderful afternoon.

The Chorale is cosponsored by the Armenian Church of Our Savior and The Holy Trinity Armenian Apostolic Church. A Christmas Concert, free and open to all, will be presented on December 17, 2000 at 3:30 p.m. at the Armenian Church of our Savior. The Greater Worcester Armenian Chorale, Anahit Zakarian (soprano, NY) and the newly established Children's Choir of Worcester will participate in the concert.

A Holiday Fellowship will follow afterwards in the Cultural Center. All are invited to attend.
