Proceeds of Sale of Arm. Evangelical Church in Cairo Gifted to American University of Cairo

CAIRO, Egypt - The proceeds from the sale of the Armenian Evangelical Congregational Church of Cairo, amounting to $350,000, have been gifted to the American University of Cairo, with Mr. Leon Ishkhanian, a 1952 alumnus, being credited with the transfer. The gift, finalized earlier this year, is one of the largest endowments the university has ever received.

Graduates of the university have, over the years, supported their alma mater.

Some of the graduates have attained high positions in life. Among them are Onnic Marashian '46, Antranig Sarkissian '57 and Alex Alexanian.

With the establishment of the Armenian Scholarship Endowment Fund this year, the American University of Cairo is now able to endow fellowships for students of Armenian origin wishing to pursue graduate or undergraduate studies.
