"Armenian Americans" Documentary Premiers in Upstate New York
ALBANY, NY - The documentary film "Armenian-Americans" premiered in upstate New York on WMHT-Public TV on November 20, 2000 and was repeated five days later. Because of the huge success it received on November 20, it was aired again on December 9, 2000, during the period that WMHT presented encores of some of the most popular programs of the Winter Membership Campaign, "WMHT Plays Favorites."
The true spirit of the telephone volunteers who participated on November 20 and December 9 is a testament to the support and response the program received from the Armenian-Americans of the Capital District area, including those in outlying regions who were able to receive the program.
The local underwriters are Mooradians Furniture, Sportsmaster Apparel Factory Outlet and the Toros and Selma Gochigian Fund. The Manoogian-Simone Foundation funded this wonderful documentary, which was produced by WLIW, New York and Garden City, New York and aired first on March 22, 2000..
Earlier in the year, on Palm Sunday, April 16, 2000, WHMT-Public TV premiered in upstate New York the documentary film made by Dr. Lucy Der Manuelian, "Lost Treasures of Christianity: The Ancient Monuments of Armenia."
The coordinator for these projects is Lucille Gochigian Sarkissian.
