Aghtamar Dance Ensemble's Successful Dinner-Dance
WHITE
PLAINS, NY - On November 4, 2000 The Aghtamar Dance Ensemble held
a dinner-dance at the St. Gregory The Enlightener Armenian Church Hall
here. Over 160 guests enjoyed an evening of fun and entertainment and
lots of dancing to the beautiful music of popular singer Vatche and
his band from California.
All proceeds from the dinner-dance will benefit the Aghtamar Dance Ensemble.
The Ensemble is in its sixth year and consists of over 40 girls whose
age ranges between 8 and 20. They practice every Friday between 4::00
and 8:00 p.m. at the Hye Doon in Cliffside Park, New Jersey.
Speaking about the group, Sylva Asadourian, director and choreographer
of the Aghtamar Dance Ensemble, said, "Their personalities are as wonderful
as their colorful dance costumes. They are as vibrant as the future
of our people. They are our future. What we give them today they will
remember for many years and I am sure in due time they will give back
to the Armenian community."
The
support of the community was very evident in the numerous donations
made towards the raffle. There were over 20 gifts raffled, and almost
all the gifts were donated by generous Armenian jewelers. "Much work
went into the preparation of the dance. We really appreciate the many
people who helped us out. And to see so many of the dancers of Aghtamar
Dance Ensemble with us tonight makes us very happy indeed," said Zivart
Gulian, chairlady of the Aghtamar Dance Ensemble.
The evening ended on a very upbeat note. The cause was good. The organization
was excellent. Everyone had a great time. Congratulations, Aghtamar
Dance Ensemble!
