An Open Letter to the President of the United States of America

Dear Mr. President:
On moral grounds, you declared war on Serbia and received commendation for your courage by the American citizens.

News has been released that the Senate of the country of France has voted, irrespective of the political consequences, that what the Ottoman Turkish regime did to Armenians between 1915-1922 was a Genocide.

While France has now moved onto a higher moral ground, our country has in contrast lost the moral ground by not allowing the resolution on the Armenian Genocide to go to Congress.

How much longer shall we be intimidated by the threats of Turkey? I feel like a "voice in the wilderness" and am frustrated that the claim that one vote counts is a mirage. I am a Genocide survivor, I am a history major, I know the truth, scholars currently prove from Turkish, Austrian and German sources that there has been nation cleansing. Please do not let the "smallness" of Armenia be a determining factor in your decision.

Faithfully yours,
