Twin Jubilees of Dr. Prof. Vahagn Mkrtchyan to Be Celebrated
GLENDALE, CA - In the near future, the 75th birthday of the distinguished professor Dr. Vahagn Mkrtchyan will be observed as well as the 50th anniversary of his academic, pedagogical, literary, and public activity, under the patronage of the Consul General of the Republic of Armenia in Los Angeles.
For many years, Dr. Mkrtchyan has held the position of rector (president) of Yerevan's Institute of Fine Arts and Theater.
A jubilee committee formed for this purpose held its first meeting on November 14. An executive committee was elected, as follows: chairman - poet Grish Davtian; vice chairman - journalist Dr. Harutiun Sagherian; secretary - philologist-educator Sona Tigranian; treasurer - prose writer Djanibek Djanibekian.
The jubilee committee discussed certain organizational matters and made decisions accordingly. Theater critic Prof. Razmik Madoyan was selected to be the keynote speaker. Subcommittees were also formed.
