"Christian Armenia and Its Religious Culture" (301-1915): Exhibit for March 2001

LOS ANGELES, CA - In celebration of 1700 years of Christianity in Armenia, the Mekhitarian Educational Foundation, in collaboration with the Armenian Catholic Community, is organizing a striking event. A sensational exhibition devoted to Armenian religious, spiritual, ecclesiastic and liturgical culture is planned for the month of March 2001. Approximately 200 items will be on display, ranging from the 9th century to 1915, including religious embroidery, needlework, metalwork, woodcarvings, manuscripts, old printed books and religious architecture.

The exhibition will take place in the city of Glendale. This educational event brings forth a unique opportunity for both Armenian and non-Armenian communities to partake in the Christian culture of the Armenian people. It entails an intimate examination of the sacred art and aesthetic expression that has found its life through Armenian religious art.
